Perident's Message

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

I trust my message finds you all well and looking forward to the holiday season, we think of those in colder places as we enter our beautiful, long, sunny and warm summer here in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

In June we held our Fourteenth Annual General Meeting, with the opening reception, meetings and Concierge workshop hosted by our colleagues Mr..Shaun Ryan and Mr. Jim Tully at the SKY CITY Hotels. It is always a pleasure having all 23 of our members from the length of this diverse country together, and as always we appreciate the contribution from our esteemed colleagues from across the Tasman Mr. Elvis Soiza, President Les Clefs d’or Australia (Elected last July, congratulations!) and Mr. Michael Anderson, Secretary Les Clefs d’Or Australia.

During the months of July and August, I was on the road overseas and had the opportunity to meet with fellow Les Clefs d’Or colleagues from Colombia, Argentina, and Chile. I would like to take this opportunity also to wholeheartedly thank them for their hospitality, and to congratulate Mr. Alejandro Nova for his election as the new President of Les Clefs d’Or Argentina, and to Ms. Andrea Melendez from the Hotel San Martin in Vina del Mar, Chile for obtaining her Les Clefs d’Or keys.

In October we held our Inaugural Les Clefs d’Or New Zealand Ball at the stunning The Wharf complex overlooking Auckland Harbour, and I am proud to announce the success of the occasion with more than 200 guests attending. As I mentioned on the night it will be an annual event (soon we start the process of organising next year’s ball) and without doubt it will become a night to remember on the Auckland social calendar. The feedback we received was fantastic and one again I would like to thank to the members who put in time and effort to ensure our first Les Clefs d’Or ball went well.

In November the Executive Committee will travel to Christchurch to take part in the South Island regional Bi-Monthly meeting, and then to Wellington to meet with our members in the capital city to start organising next years’ Annual General Meeting. 2009 is a milestone for our small chapter as the 15th Anniversary of Les Clefs d’Or New Zealand joining the U.I.C.H.

We are almost at the end of the year, we getting ready for another busy summer season just around the corner. In Auckland, we are very much looking forward to the Louis Vuitton Pacific Series, taking place at the beginning of February 2009, with the best sailing teams from all parts of the World and guests visiting us to enjoy the racing, and friendliness and beauty that our country has to offer. As usual, Les Clefs d’Or New Zealand will continue to deliver our professional services to New Zealand’s Tourism Industry.

I am very much looking forward meeting and seeing many of you in March 2009 at the 56th UICH Congress in Hangzhou, China.

As always, wishing you all the very best.
